'Your Highness' Trailer

Admittedly when I first saw this on Trailer Addicts site I thought, "come on", then I realized that it had this cast and was also the movie that had Natalie Portman in a thong. Not a draw for me, but because it was plastered all over the internets a few weeks ago, it's nice to see which movie I can expect to see her almost-naked ass in.

This actually looks pretty funny. A classic "find-the-stolen-princess" movie, but still...it looks funny.

'MacGruber' Trailer

I'll admit I was one of the first to poo-poo this trailer. Admittedly this is one of the few funny characters still on SNL. There aren't many. But it should only work for the few minutes on the show, yet this trailer is pretty funny without giving too much away.

I also love Will Forte and find him very funny, so I'll probably see this barring any further evidence of it sucking.

Kids In the Hall 'Death Comes To Town' trailer

Holy crap! I haven't posted anything for no one but me to read for awhile. Now that my trailer for class is done, and I can throw it on here later, I can return to posting.

What a wonderful treat for everyone: The Kids In the Hall trailer for their 8-part series, 'Death Comes To Town'. If you are unfamiliar with The Kids In the Hall, I recommend you find some way to get to know them. May I recommend 'Brain Candy'? Because I am, and you should watch it and laugh.

'The Slammin' Salmon' Trailer

I'm sure like most of their movies, this is going to be funnier than the trailer makes it sound. At least I hope so, because this looks awful based on the trailer alone.
The basic idea is that Michael Clarke Duncan plays an old boxer that opens a restaurant full of idiots for employees. He then offers them a bunch of money for doing something.

Carlton Draught 'Flashbeer'

Since I didn't have anything to do today, I spent the time watching funny commercials. This had to be one of the funniest.

It's for an Australian beer called Carlton Draught and is a parody of Flashdance. The best part is around 1:13 or so.



This IKEA ad was banned by the home office. It's for IKEA Germany and is making fun of the Swedish holiday called midsummer where they all dance around a maypole and get drunk. This is of course, highly exaggerated, but it's funny none-the-less. Not sure if it was banned because of the content or because it's kind of long for an ad...

'Gwyneth Paltrow Makes Chicken'

This is pretty awesome. And pretty accurate with the condescending tone and name-dropping. Abby Elliot is pretty hilarious in this little skit and I love her facial expressions when she's washing her hands.

Mystery Team Trailer

Whee! It's time for some trailers!

What happens when three guys who grew up pretending to be mystery-solvers run into a real mystery/crime they are asked to solve? Well...it would appear that they get into a bunch of shit trying to solve a real-life murder.

Honestly when that woman said 'Charlie Day' I immediately thought it was Charlie Day and got so excited only to realize that it is not, in fact, Charlie Day but a character. Poop!

Back to the Future 1 & 2 Side-by-Side Comparison

Someone made a side-by-side comparison of the end of Back to the Future 1 and the beginning of Back to the Future 2. Why? Because Michael J. Fox (or, Alex P. Keaton as I like to call him) aged between the two and whoever played his girlfriend was now played by Elisabeth Shue...so they had to reshoot. And reshoot they did. It's pretty awesome and I love these movies. I also want a hoverboard.

Funny story not related to this movie completely: This one time I was in Royal Oak, MI and there was a store across the street that had sweet-ass 80's shades on a rack in the window. There was even something painted on the window about referencing the 80's and being "cool". So as we waited for the light to change so we could cross I said to my sister, "The only thing missing is a DeLorean" and I shit you not, one pulled up to the light! I almost died laughing. What was worse: That someone was driving a DeLorean in 2007 (if the Miami Vice Theme by Jan Hammer was playing out the window, my life would have been complete), or that they were selling glasses and advertising you'd look "80's-cool" if you bought them?

That's the first clip. This looks like an outrageously funny movie from Jared Hess and stars the hilariously funny Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords) and Sam Rockwell. Clement plays author Ronald Chevalier who writes ridiculous sci-fi novels like "All ten of the Cyborg Harpies trilogies" and ends up stealing an idea for a novel from one of his students.

Funny Movie To Watch: Kids in the Hall Brain Candy

This is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. It is crazy, stupid and funny all rolled into one neat little morsel of stupid.

If you are unfamiliar with The Kids in the Hall...where the hell have you been? Go rent this movie and all their other things NOW!

Basically this movie is about a group of scientists who create a drug for people that will allow them to recall their happiest memory. Unfortunately, it also causes them to fall into a coma. Now the scientists want to stop the drug from being sold and the drug company, of course, wants to stop them...it's what every comedy group wishes their movie would be.

If you've seen Superstar and noticed that little green VW Bugs keep driving around, you'll see that repeated here, only with Neons...a cute little detail.

Literal Music Videos-I might be a Literal Music Video Snob...

Not to poo-poo this new 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' literal music video or anything, but seriously...it's not that good, funny OR well-done. If you want good literal music videos...stayed tuned, I'll point you there. You might ask if I am too harsh on this Bonnie Tyler video: The answer is no...if it was of a quality of the DustFilms videos, I'd love it...it has potential.

The person singing in the Bonnie Tyler one doesn't even sound like Bonnie Tyler and while the video itself is ridiculous, if the goal was to try to rip off the good ones, I say FAIL! EPIC FAIL! There are some funny parts, but overall it just doesn't have the perfection that DustFilms literal music videos have (they can be seen via DustFilms or DustFilms).

Bonnie Tyler 'Total Eclipse of the Heart'

Why isn't it good? Well the aforementioned bad singing. And it's too loud. And what makes a literal music video funny isn't just listing what's going on and then having someone talk funny while she's running through the halls. The whole 'I gotta pee' thing and fart sounds really makes this literal music video turn into lame-attempt-to-rip-off a good literal music video. A funny part: 'What the effing crap? That angel guy just felt me up"...check out the good ones below:

This is a great song to begin with, a cutting-edge (for the time, using rotoscoping) video, that was original and fun and the song still stands the test of time (as does Total Eclipse of the Heart). What makes this one SO much better? Well, the singer sounds like Morten Harket, for one. The part where they are talking as they are running through the halls is funny. And the words he used when he changed the lyrics flow.

So...do you see the difference? Maybe I'm just a literal music video snob? If so, that's fine by me.

Up Clips

Up comes out in a few weeks and it looks astounding! If there is one thing that Pixar excels in, it's making a wonderful story with heart and beautiful visualizations that delight both children and adults, which is something that A LOT of other children's movies forget to do. I just love how they manage to make it look so realistic and detailed while also making it clear it's animated.
